CHILDREN'S & PAEDIATRIC BLOOD TESTS

Special Care for your Child

Blood tests for children can be very challenging, dependent on their age, illness, compliance, and parents' influence particularly if they are nervous themselves.

Based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, Phlebotomy Services are one of the few companies that provides a private specialist blood taking services for children, offering blood tests by experienced phlebotomists at their child friendly clinic or at home.

Having gained an excellent reputation, parents travel long distances to visit the team at the clinic. They are always happy to discuss any concerns with parents and carers.

Over the years they have developed their own technique to try & ensure the whole procedure is as stress free as possible for everyone involved.  Spending time with the child and parents where needed, gaining their trust and hopefully allaying any fears from the offset is so important.

Services are offered from 2 years of age and above.  In some circumstances it may be possible to advise and discuss younger ages. The clinic is friendly & not highly clinical, so ideal for nervous, little people visiting.

Parents know their children best - so they are guided by you.  Uniform or no uniform? They all react differently & the team just want to help make it easier for everyone concerned.

Proud of our Reputation

Our continued recommendations and reviews for our service and experience come from working with local schools, social services, solicitors, specialist organisations, hospital departments, GP surgeries, Doctors & Consultants across the UK.

We travel all over the country to visit children in their own homes.

We understand this isn't suitable for everyone, so are pleased to be able to offer children's blood tests in our clinic for parents able to travel to us in Warwickshire.

We are proud to be able to offer both services.

Our Friendly Information

If you have been given a blood test request form from your GP or hospital for your child & wish to use the NHS system but just pay privately for your child's blood test to either speed the process up or would like to be seen at home - we can help.

We can also help with private test kits or private blood samples without a Dr's referral for many tests.

We do not offer any medical advice or interpretation of results, these would need to be taken up with a medical practitioner.

We offer advice regarding EMLA (numbing cream) and dressings which are available on prescription from your GP, or purchased over the counter.  Please contact us for our EMLA application advice sheet.  We can also use numbing spray on the day if required.

Whilst we make every attempt to successfully gain blood samples from children, we will never put a child under unnecessary stress or emotional upset.  We will not actively restrain a child to take a blood sample but may need assistance to help hold them still during the procedure.  We are guided by parents with every child's needs. If we feel unable to take the sample for any reason, we will be honest with you and discuss the options/any charges applicable.

Every child is different and we take this into consideration and allow as much time as we feel is needed to treat them.  If for any reason the procedure takes longer than would be normally considered reasonable, a further charge maybe be applied.

If you have any questions about the process please email us.
